Two Perfect Winter Scenes

Two of my favorite colors are here...RED and TURQUOISE!

I love the red berries and snowy branches in the background.

And isn't it neat the way the photographer's image is captured beautifully in the shiny turquoise ornament.

Two perfect winters scenes on display.

Too Much Cuteness!

I have vintage bulbs like these.  This is a cute way to display them.

I don't know how the owner of these kitties got them to stand still long enough to not only put these costumes on but also take their picture.

But I'm glad the owner did.

This is sooo cute... I can't stop laughing!

An Old Fashioned Christmas

I love this old fashioned Christmas front door decoration.

Just proves you don't have to go overboard to have a lovely decorated door.

There's something about white bedding that I like...you know it's clean and it always looks fresh.

That headboard is just stunning and I love the simple spread with the red stripes.

I've never had a Christmas tree in a bedroom but doesn't it look lovely here?

Do you decorate your bedrooms for Christmas?

Home Made Ornaments

Aren't these cute ornaments to make into a garland.

Some adorable felt stars.

Got a pail...cover it with some cute Christmas scrapbook paper and make a cute sign.

Our living room with lit reindeer pail on floor next to the Christmas tree.

Click on the photo to zoom in and then click again.  You can see the reindeer pail better.

And here's another way to decorate with pails.

If you look closely to the right of our Christmas tree you can just make out  a paint pail glowing with a reindeer face.  I bought this pail at a craft fair many years ago.  The tin is punched out with the reindeer design and lights are placed inside the pail.

When lit it is beautiful.

Santa Collections

"They" (i.e., the decorators) say you should group your collections to make a grand statement.

I tend to agree with them.

The wreath, plaid buckets and the various vintage Santas grouped here make a fantastic display of this collection.

The same can be said for this collection of vintage Santa mugs in different shapes and sizes.

It hits the jackpot for visual impact.

Christmas 2009 at Sandy Snowflake

Here's my attempt to make a visual statement.  Ha!

Not as grand as the others I admit.

But I try...for Christmas 2009 I displayed some of my Santas on and around our family room fireplace.

Do you have any Christmas collections you like to display?

Wreath Snowman

I'm tempted to try making this adorable

Wreath Snowman

this Christmas.

I think it is so cute.

Our home is set back from the road quite a bit so something this large will be seen better.

I have a heavy paper door liner in red that I save from year to year and the green wreath snowman should really POP off that background.   You could also make the snowman out of white or red wreaths.  I can crochet a colorful scarf for it too.

Karen from "Sew Many Ways" blog is the creator of this fantastic idea and she has a tutorial (here) on how to make her snowman.  She uses green plastic tie tags to tie together the wreaths.  Ever since my Hubby showed me tie tags several years ago I use them all the time.

Thanks Karen for sharing your fantastic decoration!

I love Snowmen!

Frame It!

Isn't this a cute idea?

Frame and hang your favorite Christmas ornaments.

This one is stunning in the red, white and green colors.

And the neat thing is you can change your theme year by year.

Decorated All in RED!

I just love this window trimming in white and red.

There's even a red and white teddy bear sitting on the window ledge.

Be still my beating RED heart!

I have fake green garland...maybe I need to get some white garland and try this treatment?

Hanging all this stuff is so much easier now with the 3M Command (removable) strips.

Do you decorate your windows?

Lots of RED and WHITE!

What a terrific display of red and white vintage dishes and Santas!

I would love to have this in my kitchen.

Wish I could see more of the rustic cupboard too.

I have a dinner set for ten of the "Christmas Heritage" dishes by Pfaltzgraff ~ thanks to the many generous gifts from relatives over the years.

It makes a very pretty dinner setting during the holiday.

Do you have any holiday dishes?

Displaying Your Christmas Cards

What a beautiful way to display one's Christmas cards!

I remember hanging Christmas cards on doors and as garland around the house growing up in the 50s and 60s.  A simple, beautiful decoration that didn't cost a cent.

I love the way the cards are displayed here on the ribbons with the white door background.  I have the perfect door to duplicate this arrangement here in my home.

I have saved my Christmas cards for the last 30 plus years.  I would love to make an arrangement using vintage cards from beloved family members....especially my parents and in-laws who have passed away many years ago.

Do you like to display your Christmas cards?

Is it too early to put Christmas trees up?

I don't think so.

If this was my kitchen I'll leave the tree up all year.

Gosh, I love the blue and white tile backsplash in this cheery kitchen!

How early do you start Christmas decorating?

What do you think?

Isn't this beautiful?  So simple...so Christmasy!
